Frequently Asked Questions – Mile Straight Storage

What size containers do you offer?
We provide secure 20ft (approx. 160 sq ft) and 40ft (approx. 320 sq ft) steel storage containers. Both are clean, dry, and weatherproof.

How much does storage cost?
Our 20ft containers are £110 per month, and our 40ft containers are £200 per month. Prices include VAT.

Is there a minimum hire period?
Yes — our minimum hire period is one month. Contracts continue monthly until you give notice.

How do I end my contract?
You must give at least 28 days’ written notice to terminate your storage agreement.

What payment methods do you accept?
We only accept payment by Direct Debit. Monthly payments must be made on the same day each month as your contract start date, as specified in your agreement.

When is my payment due?
Your monthly payment is due on the first day of each rental month, matching your contract start date.

What happens if I pay late?
Late payments may incur fees and could result in your access to your container being suspended until your account is up to date.

Can I access my container any time?
Yes — we provide 24/7 drive-up access to all containers.

Is the site secure?
Yes — our site is fenced and monitored 24/7 by CCTV. Containers are individually locked.

Who is responsible for insuring stored items?
You are responsible for insuring your stored belongings. Mile Straight Storage accepts no liability for loss or damage.

What can’t I store?
Prohibited items include firearms, weapons, ammunition, explosives, chemicals, radioactive or toxic substances, asbestos, wet or damp items, illegal goods, living creatures, and perishable food.

What happens if I cause damage or leave rubbish?
You are responsible for any damage you cause and must leave your container clean and empty at the end of your contract. Mile Straight Storage reserves the right to retain your deposit to cover cleaning or repair costs.

Can I come and look at the containers before I rent one?
Yes! We’re happy to arrange a viewing so you can see our containers and site before booking.

How do I reserve a storage container?
Simply call us on 07814 592646 or email milestraightstorage@gmail.com — we’ll guide you through the booking process.

Who has access to my container?
Only you have the key to your container. Nobody else, including our staff, can access it without your permission.

Can someone else access my container?
Yes, but only if you provide written authorisation and they have your key.

Do I need to bring ID when renting?
Yes, we’ll need to see one form of photo ID (e.g., passport or driving licence) when signing your storage contract.

Do you offer packing materials?
No, we don’t currently sell packing materials. Please arrange boxes, bubble wrap, or tape before moving your items into storage.

Do you provide trolleys or help moving items?
We don’t provide trolleys or staff assistance on-site. However, you can park your vehicle right next to your container door for easy loading and unloading.

Do you offer van hire or moving services?
We don’t offer van hire directly but are happy to recommend local providers upon request.

Do you charge extra to access my container?
No, you can access your container 24/7 at no additional cost.

Are the containers heated?
No, our containers are not heated. However, they are ventilated, weatherproof, and suitable for most household and business items.

How far in advance can I book a container?
You can reserve a storage container up to 3 months in advance, depending on availability.
